Day 25: Mark 4:26-29

26 He also said, “This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. 27 Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. 28 All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head. 29 As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come.”

We work hard.
We put in our time.
We plan.
We devise.
We sacrifice.
And we trust all this will produce something good.

We wake up,
and do all this again the next day, and the next,
and the...

When one day,
we realize that something has happened that we can’t explain.
We see results in places we hadn’t anticipated;
we see growth that cannot be explained by our effort.

Somewhere along the line,
He takes our simple contribution
(which has been surrendered to him in love) and makes something grow.

Like green blades springing from a seed of grain, pushing past the earth’s crust
to grow day after day...
I can’t begin to explain how that happens,

but I know it does.

And I know
that my labor matters.
And He will see that it grows: maybe not today,
or tomorrow,
but someday.
