Day 47: Genesis 2:4b-7

...When the Lord God made the earth and the heavens.

5 Now no shrub had yet appeared on the earth and no plant had yet sprung up,for the Lord God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no one to work the ground, 6 but streams came up from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground. 7 Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

Creation and resurrection share a common theme of God bringing life out of what seemed impossible. In creation, out of nothing but dust, God formed man, intentionally instilling His image in him so that man would be equipped to know God in relationship. Then God went a step further and breathed life into him so that the man became a living being. Out of what looked like nothing, God breathed and man began living.

From the view of mankind, after Jesus’ death all hope was lost. Death had a finality to it that seemed irreversible. Yet, it was out of what looked like no hope that God breathed the breath of life into His Son, Jesus, and overcame the death of hope when life was restored. God still breathes the breath of life into people, creating hope. He breathes into the soul that was lost to sin or broken by pain and man becomes a living being again. Living with the image of God boldly expressed. Living with a new perspective of hope. Living life that is truly life!
